Junk Boat Week

This week is Junk Boat Week at Bk Boat n Sleds.
We have set the bar at 6 boats in 5 Days.

For those of you that want the inside scoop of what is happening this week, and what the status is, I will add comments to this post with the details.

The boats are coming out of Inland Harbor in Antioch, IL with junk paperwork from the DNR. These boats will be removed, stripped, and discarded this week!

Boat 1 Day One.

Monday was Day one and we arrived to Inland just after 2pm. The first boat we were towing out (Older 4 Winns) had a tire off the rim. One of Inland's guys reset it with ether and filled er up....to find out the valve stem was rotted off. It was back to BK to get a tire and gear.

We arrived back at inland at 3.30 with a tire and gear. After jacking up the trailer to change the tire, there was a POP and crash. We checked to see if we were all ok and then looked around to see what the matter was. The trailer bent in half. The weight of the water in the boat and the weak trailer was a bad mix. The trailer, from the axle back, bent to the ground (about 2 feet).

We hitched up the next boat in line (1985 21 ft Bayliner Capri) and limped it back to BK.

Day Two started with the parting of the Bayliner. It took all day to deal with it.

Day Three began with someone coming to haul out the Bayliner.

After that, we went out to Inland to grap the 2nd boat, a 17 foot Imperial. That boat was in the shop for about 2 hours before it was hauled out. We had someone lined up for it before we even got it into the shop.

Boat 3 came into the shop. This is a 1990 24 foot Chris Craft. It BARELY fits in the shop. It is currently here and will be parted and taken to the landfill this afternoon. Inland needs the trailer back, so we need to dump this boat.

Boat 3 is in the Country Side Landfill. It was stripped and gone in about 3 hours. The next boats are ready to come in on Monday. One is a 17 foot 4 Winns and the other is a 1971 25 foot Apollo cabin cruiser. It is gonna be a wild one....that may stick around for awhile!
